Some JRT Background: JRTs have become increasingly popular as a pet due to exposure in movies, on television and in print ads. This directly relates to the tremendous increase in popularity of the breed. With this increasing popularity, efforts must be taken to protect the breed as one of the last active working terrier breeds. The RMJRTN serves Colorado and the surrounding area through exhibitions, fun days and our newsletter. The club exists in part to help educate the public regarding Jack Russell Terriers and their unique needs.

Several pitfalls exist in the JRT world:

Unscrupulous individuals (i.e. puppy mills) that try to profit from prospective owners ignorance regarding this hunting terrier.

New owner's failure to understand the active, demanding nature of the Jack as a pet and companion.

The lack of resources available (both material and people), and information on assistance when confronted with issues surrounding Jacks.

The goals and major focus of the Rocky Mountain Jack Russell Terrier Network (RMJRTN) are the same as the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America (JRTCA): to provide education and information about all aspects of the Jack Russell Terrier, including:

  Temperament and Working Character

  JRTCA Registration

Trials, Fun Days, local activities, etc.

Through all these, Preserving and Protecting the attributes and working heritage that make the Jack Russell unique!

If you are already a JRT owner and RMJRTN member, we encourage you to join the JRTCA and register your terriers.

If you are just visiting or looking into being adopted by one of these wonderful creatures, please feel free to browse this site and others and get plenty of information before you decide on a Jack. They are wonderful companions, but require a great deal of energy, attention and space to stretch their legs!
